FAQs

  • How does Automatic Delivery work?
Cubby oil uses a computer system that calculates your fuel usage based on the weather outside using a degree day system. Automatic customers qualify for a 5 cent discount per gallon if they pay within 10 days.
  • Is there a minimum delivery amount for customers on will call?
Will call customers must order a minimum of 100 gallons, and they must give 24 hour notice.
  • How often should I get my heating equipment cleaned?
Cubby Oil recommends that you schedule a clean and tune annually. Not only does it keep your system running more efficiently, but it can prevent break-downs during the colder months. Our annual clean and tune features a new nozzle, filter and strainer, brushed and vacuumed boiler, test all safety controls, and a complete efficiency test.
  • What is BioHeat®?
BioHeat® is regular heating oil blended with 2-5% Biodiesel. Biodiesel is a renewable energy resource that is made domestically from fatty acids found in soy and vegetable oils, recycled restaurant oils, and other natural sources. BioHeat® burns cleaner, produces fewer emissions, and can extend the life of your equipment. For more information, please visit www.bioheatonline.com
  • How do I set up a new account?
If you would like to be a Cubby oil customer, please feel free to call the office at 617-876-1885, or email Sales (sales@cubbyoil.com)
  • What is degree day monitoring?
Degree day monitoring is a system used to calculate how much oil you use based on the temperature outside. The average temperature is taken for the 24 hour period, for example 28° F. That is subtracted from 65° F, to give you a degree day of 37. The higher the degree day, that more fuel you use.
  • Is there a budget plan?
Cubby has budgets available for 8 months, 10 months, and 11 months. We will take your oil consumption, multiplied by the current market price of oil, and equally divide that up across the length of your budget.
  • Is oil heat safe?
Oil heat is very safe. It takes an advanced high-tech burner to ignite the oil. Heating oil must be vaporized before it will ignite or burn, eliminating your risk for explosion.
  • My home does not have air conditioning, what are my options?
There are many efficient options for cooling your house; ductless, with your existing ducts, or Cubby can install ductwork. For more information, please call the office at 617-876-1885, or email our Service Manager Paul (paul@cubbyoil.com).
  • Do I have to be home for a delivery?
No you do not. Our drivers will fill your tank and leave a delivery slip in the mailbox.
  • Is there a pilot light?
There is no pilot light in an oil furnace or boiler. This means that you are not using any energy when the furnace is not producing heat for you.
  • Why is oil so expensive
Global markets and world events dictate the price. Commodities are traded in nanoseconds so prices are constantly changing.
  • Do all companies deliver the same quality fuel?
While most do, some do not have the high standards and quality that Cubby delivers. Cubby uses a specially formulated additive that turns regular heating oil into a “Premium” heating oil. Some lower quality fuels can shorten the lifespan of your equipment, and cause problems down the line.
  • Who do I call when I need service?
Cubby offers 24-hour service 365 days of the year, so whether it is a simple clean and tune or a no heat emergency in the middle of the night, there will always be someone to answer your call at 617-876-1885.
